Sanya, Sunnie and Grace
Go down at 12:15. You will see a van. Sanya will pick you up.
Sounds like a mission straight out of a movie. There I was meeting Sanya for the first time but the girls in the van thought that I knew him longer or so, thanks to our few references to the people we mutually know. The girls were a bit clueless at first; I know how it feels. Everything seems strange initially, a bit overwhelming.
Sunnie and Grace landed just a few hours prior to me joining them for lunch. I was there to help the girls feel more at ease, since it was only the two of them and the sweet alien Sanya. I would be the pseudo tour guide! Woohoo!
They loved the sauna, just as I did, and I loved their company. It was nice to chat with someone from your own country when in a foreign land sometimes. It feels good to be able to make them feel more comfortable. Better still when the chemistry works well. We spoke of the steamboat culture now booming in KL, and the SK13 steamboat that all of us have apparently been to, of how we totally loved the one that we were having that Thursday night and how we wished Malaysia should have something like this. Information exchanged was done quickly. Facebook, my Thai phone number, local phone number, pictures taken. Ah, technology.
“Kevin, why aren’t you eating?”
“Looking at Grace, I don’t need to eat already!”
If it isn’t obvious enough, Kevin was targeting Grace that night. If you’ve been in his company, you would understand just how crazy he is, and this guy is crazy by choice. His laugh is so loud and so bloody contagious you can’t help but at least chuckle. Sunnie and Grace adapted quickly and welcomed this crazy dude as part of their holiday like it’s the most natural thing to do.
Sanya was the serious one, calculating what ifs and what nots. Worse case scenarios were envisioned and plan B was drawn out. My room would be their back up plan in case the waves got big. Sanya, Sanya, the most serious brother.
By the end of the night, we were hanging out at a bar considered by the locals as the more high class and happening one. Sanya was sitting quietly by himself, Kevin was loud (oh how is that different from the usual?), Sunnie suggested that we should hang out when I’m back in KL, Grace was a bit quiet, Sakie was.. omigod, he was imitating the dance by a sexy girl on the floor below, and my glass kept refilling itself.
The girls went back to their hotel as exhausted but happy ladies. I went back as a contented pseudo tour guide.
