This is What You Tell Them
“Munia~ Woo.. sexy..”
We girls were given a seamless batik, which you should tie whichever way you know how, which should not fall apart when you’re under the shower or when you get into the pool.
What makes it sexy is the fact that the wet batik clings on to the body. For each hour that passes by, more pretty Koreans littered the area. Ah..
I was honestly surprised. It totally reminded me of an episode of Honey and Clover, when Yamada was taken to a spa/resort place to chill out. To think that I was taken to such a place.
So there I was alternating between heading in and out of the sauna (I lost count) and then jumping into the pool. If not those two, I would be lounging on the beach chair, looking at the leaves on the trees shaken by the wind. Hypnotic. I almost fell asleep.
The shampoo, conditioner and body shampoo made me smile. They smell like sweet bananas.

Oadi was a bit tipsy I think, but the message was heartfelt: You can go back to Malaysia.. and tell them how Thai people are like.
It ran deep.
Being around them, you would hardly feel like an outsider. Yoshi wasn’t an outsider, definitely. She was part of them. So almost all of whom I was with understood a bit of Japanese, or a lot of it, and a lot of it had to do with Yoshi being around, I guess. There they were, friends and family, and that’s all that matters. Oh, and whiskey of course. Oadi gave me a Thai name which means deer. The animal, deer. Kuang.
It was a lazy night, talking over barbecued food and mental numbing drinks. There was the Singapore-bashing session, where we all shared stories of what we knew and what we’ve experienced (I haven’t any first hand experience by the way), and the more sober conclusion that we shouldn’t come up with a blanketed idea of a nation’s people. Yes, no stereotyping, we said. I’m glad to know all the same that we Malaysians are close to their hearts. We’re known as the friendly ones.

I nodded to his question.
“A lot of people tried to stop you, right? A lot of people must have said that you’re crazy.”
Most people don’t know the details and how I came about to wanting to come back here. For the most of you, all you know is that I’m here for a one month holiday, just spending my time for a once in a lifetime adventure. That’s true, that’s not wrong. What you don’t know is how I’m going to spend my time and who I’ll be spending my time with, plus you didn’t bother asking :p
Now you know. A bunch of friendly people.
Some things are hard to explain, he agreed. Some things, you just need to feel, and you know. That’s how I felt. A gamble, definitely. A crazy gamble, I know.
Sakie asked, “So, how do you feel about your decision now?”
I feel… relieved. I feel good.
