Still far, we are
I still miss Phuket. I still miss everyone. Their smiles, their drunken laughters, their spirited chatters in a language I don’t understand.
If I go there solo yet again, the moment I see them, it’ll be just continuing where we left off.
Most probably. Yeah.

My struggle
It has not been easy. It has been almost 5 months, and I miss Phuket every single day of my life.

Welcome Back, Dear Self
4 weeks seem to go by real fast, it’s almost unbelievable. I recalled the statement of certain friends uttered a few months back, that I look as if I’ve left something here. I guess I have. This place feels like second home to me, but only because I’ve met good, kind people. Without them, I’m just another pathetic tourist who could utter only a few basic words of Thai....
My Last Phuket Picnic
It was a charming evening. A perfect last day. We went to the noodle shop and after one month there, the lady with the sweet smile finally realised I’m not Thai. Not that I mind. Sakie and I were at the laundry shop and was just about to leave when Kevin spotted us, and while passing us by in his car, managed to shout “Pai nai?” God knows how he and Sakie communicated because I...
The Happy Malaysian Men
“I’m sorry, I hope you don’t mind me asking: “Why is it that Malaysian men, as compared to men from many other countries that I’ve seen.. they’re just..? I’m sorry, I don’t really know how is it like in Malaysia and how the laws and the culture affects them, but when they come over here, they go all out to enjoy (the women over here). They’ll...
Weather, Food and Music
Heard that it hasn’t really been raining in Malaysia. I dread going back to face the crazy hot weather back home. Over here when they complain it’s hot, I get a bit irritated and would tell them that it’s way hotter back home. It’s almost like: how dare they complain that *this* is hot! *laughs* Honestly, the fact that we’re still alive and well, surviving in our...
The Tembam Speaks
My cheeks have a fuller appearance now. Yes, I’m chubbier and I think I actually look okay. My skin is clearer, my lips a deep pink! I haven’t had deep pink lips for as long as I can remember. Must be the diet over here: more red meat, more seafood, more vegetables, fruits every single day, go super way low on carbs. My lips look awesomely happy. Gee.. The food here while being rich in...
It's So Local
There are many things that tugs at my heart while being here. I’ve always like having the wind in my face as a youngster. I would roll down the car window knowing very well that I would be asked to roll it up again because the car wouldn’t be that cold anymore for my parents. I would think that they were weird. Why wouldn’t they roll down the windows and stick their heads out as...
Fishes, Somtam, Chicken and Pulut
Today, I fell asleep by the river. I came alive to a sleepy world, a world that feels as if it was passing by very slowly. Waking up to rustling leaves and soothing wind, you should try that someday. We had grilled fish and papaya salad, we listened and talked until the sun was shy, and we had nothing but the company of each other and our trusty Nokias supplying the light and music when the moon...
Of Rivers and Thoughts
The breeze was wonderful as I laid down on the green hammock. It rocked me gently as I listened to the chants from a nearby temple. Sakie and his friend was a few feet below me by the river bank, fishing. As I laid there under the shade of trees, while the whole world around me was bathed in golden light, I thought to myself: If I die right at this moment, I’ll die a happy woman. * I am not...
Sanya, Sunnie and Grace
Go down at 12:15. You will see a van. Sanya will pick you up. Sounds like a mission straight out of a movie. There I was meeting Sanya for the first time but the girls in the van thought that I knew him longer or so, thanks to our few references to the people we mutually know. The girls were a bit clueless at first; I know how it feels. Everything seems strange initially, a bit overwhelming....
This is What You Tell Them
“Munia~ Woo.. sexy..” We girls were given a seamless batik, which you should tie whichever way you know how, which should not fall apart when you’re under the shower or when you get into the pool. What makes it sexy is the fact that the wet batik clings on to the body. For each hour that passes by, more pretty Koreans littered the area. Ah.. I was honestly surprised. It totally...
The Happy Buffet
Elseve, about half the price. Food, food, food. And why the heck are the water bottles here so pretty? Eek! Toilet rolls with sweet floral prints! Chocolate cafe rocks! I. Want. To. Bring. This. Whole. Mall. Back!!
** This bunch of friends are one of the whackiest I’ve met in my life. Then again maybe it’s because they’re high. Kevin is the self proclaimed hot brother among the...
Holy Shit in the Clouds
“Holy shit,” she said. Ah, must be one of them newbies. A boyish hair cut, dressed for comfort, (khaki shorts, man!) but crazy nails. You know those awesome glitter artsy deco nails that you see in brochures, or in the movies, or for some fashion show? I get to see them on a breathing living thing called a woman who was sitting right beside me. Must be the clouds. Them newbies get...
In Phuket Tomorrow
By 8 a.m., I should be in the airport. In Phuket.
Thank goodness my thigh is feeling much much better now. Reaction to my second dose of cervical cancer vaccination, for the ones who aren’t aware about me being sick for the past few days. (Oh goody, no more crazy shivers throughout the night!)
Am looking forward to having a good time exploring places and discovering things.
Just me on my...

4 days to go
I’ve just submitted the last of the mockups for this month to my client. A huge load off my shoulders, now my mind feels more at rest.
The swell somewhere on my right thigh is getting worse - badly need a doctor. So I did go to one around 11 plus at night, and discovered a nice sweet old Pakistani doctor who might be our company’s potential client.
I hope the swell is gone by the...
